Tom Clancy's: The Division 2
Game Review Written By: AKingsCreation
Hours Played: 2,000+
Game Review Breakdown:
Tom Clancy's: The Division 2 builds upon the foundation set by its predecessor, offering a richly detailed post-apocalyptic Washington D.C. to New York City exploration and a satisfying Looter Shooter experience...sort of. Here's a closer look at the game's strengths and weaknesses through my own experience. Lets talk about it first:
Strengths:
- Vivid Open World Experience
- Compelling Looting System
- Strategic Solo and Co-op Gameplay
- Endgame Content and Unlimited Leveling System
- Long-lasting Community Support
- Character's Weapon/Gear Combo System
- Photo Mode (For the artistic mind)
Weaknesses:
- Online Only Mode (No appearing offline feature, maybe on PC only)
- Old-Gen Game (PS4, Xbox One, PC)
- Repetitive Content (Missions, Summit, Descent, Countdown, etc.)
- Forgettable Storyline (Backseat Storyline Feel, Does not leave a lasting impression)
- Learning Curve (The game has a ton of information and systems to understand for a new player coming into the game after its been released for over 5 years.)
- PvP (Creates a toxic environment for new players wanting to participate. Unbalancing of weapon/gear items, and damage outputs causing frustration and avoidance. Lack of a reward system for the DarkZone, forcing new players to only play one PvP game mode known as Conflict.
- Performance and stability issues after updates (Causes crashes, deltas, and in-game invisible walls or exploits)
My Experience:
Tom Clancy's: The Division 2 is a solid Looter Shooter with an engaging core gameplay loop and a beautifully realized open world. While the story and mission variety falters at times, the satisfying gunplay, strategic co-op action, and wealth of endgame content makes it a worthwhile experience for me. I developed a wonderful and positive community along the way within the game and can't find a better match. Initially, I tried to become a top PvP player in the game but found the efforts completely wasteful as the gameplay experience was toxic and unrewarding. There were also no tournaments, esports showcases, or Lan events, instead identifying this game as "casual". Now with over 2,000 hours played in the game and still playing to this day. I can say one thing for certain. I recommend this game to those who enjoy:
- Looter Shooters with deep character customization and builds
- Open-world exploration in a detailed post-apocalyptic setting
- Strategic co-op gameplay with friends
